Usage And Benefits of Masterbatch

Usage and benefits of masterbatch, masterbatch is one of the basic materials used by plastic industry manufacturers. As we mentioned in our previous blog post masterbatch, is known in our industry as composite or calcite. In the same previous blog post, we explained the differences between masterbatch and compound. (Differences Between Masterbatch and Compound ) Although masterbatch is not known by name by the end consumer, its benefits and areas of use will make sense when listed.

Masterbatch is a granule-shaped condensed mixture formed by feeding the additives containing colors and different properties into carrier polymers as a result of heat treatment used in the production process of plastic. These different features, which are mentioned other than color, are called antistatic, antioxidant, lubricant, fire retardant, antiblock, antifog, UV stabilizer additive.

Thanks to color masterbatches, obtaining the desired color tone to plastic and its homogeneous distribution to the material is achieved more easily than using powder pigment. It is possible to achieve more vivid and bright colors in terms of color with a white masterbatch.

Additive masterbatches are effective in the physical as well as the mechanical features of the product. They ensure that polymers are protected from the change they may undergo as a result of heat and chemicals during their production and use. Thus, they increase the yield of the product and enable the production of plastic in different forms and features.

Masterbatches used for color purposes are consumed in high amounts, especially in injection, film, blown plastic, and pipe production. Additive masterbatches are used in injection, blow molding plastic, pipe, and film industries. Filler masterbatches, also known as calcite filled masterbatches, are most commonly used in the film industry.
